1867 - Incorporation Extension

AN ACT to extend the time allowed to the citizens of East New Market, in Dorchester County, under the Act of eighteen hundred and sixty, chapter three hundred and eleven, to organize this incorporation by the election of officers.

Passed Mar. 11,1867.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Act of eighteen hundred and sixty, chapter three hundred and eleven, entitled an Act to amend article ten of the Code of Public Local Laws relating to the incorporation of East New Market, by substituting the following section, and repealing sections one hundred and eighty-four, one hundred and thirty-seven, one hundred and forty-one, one hundred and forty-two and one hundred and forty-six of said article, be and the same is hereby revised and extended so as to allow and authorize the citizens of the said East New Market, in Dorchester County, to proceed to complete their organization by electing officers, and in all respects become a body corporate and politic, as much so as if they had held their election for officers within the time specified in the Act of eighteen hundred and sixty, chapter three hundred and eleven.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That whenever, from any cause the annual election for commissioners does not take place as provided in the first section of the Act of eighteen hundred and sixty, chapter three hundred and eleven, it shall be lawful and proper for the said commissioners of the town aforesaid to appoint such other day or days for such election of commissioners as they may think proper, not exceeding sixty days after the first named day.
