Silas Collins was a very interesting character in the history of East New Market. His sister, Elizabeth Rawlings, children, Samuel E. Collins, Thomas E. Collins, Ann E. Carmine, and ex-wife Mary L. Ennalls Collins Smith also played an important part in the history of the town.
The picture below is a scan of a tin-type photo provided by Sharon Kleinstuber, a great-granddaughter of Samuel E Collins. The tin-type is likely from the late 1890s. I have one other photo of John Collins and can clearly identify him as the person sitting on the ground to the left. I also have two other photos of Charles E Collins and can clearly identify him as the person sitting in the chair to the right. The others are likely siblings. Tom Collins was known to be tall and thin, so he is likely the male standing to the left.
