John Green (possible son of John, William, or James)

On 12 June 1793 John Green married Priscilla Ball in Dorchester County.  They had at least two children:  Levin Ball Green and Nathaniel Eccleston Green.

On 15 December 1814, Levin Ball Green married Sarah Bell Bonner.  She was the daughter of William Bonner (d. ca. 1816).  She was also known as Sally.  They had two daughters:  Margaret Ann Adeline Green and Elizabeth Green.

Margaret Ann Adelaide Green first married Hembleton Bell on 7 December 1830.  After the death of  Henry Nicols, she remarried to Phillip Mackey on 1 April 1833.  After Mackey died, Margaret remarried to Thomas K. Smith on 19 May 1837.

On 16 November 1824 Nathaniel Eccleston Green married Lydia Pritchard.  Lydia died before 1832.  On 28 June 1832 Nathaniel remarried to Susan A. Stephens.

Baltimore Patriot and Mercantile Advertiser - 27 January 1830 - 150 Dollars Reward will be given for the apprehension of Negro man Tom, who calls himself Tom Pinket, and absconded from the subscriber on or about the first December last -- he is about 25 or 30 years of age, 5 feet 8 or 10 inches high -- his color is between a dark copper and black; his head is bald before, and as well as remembered he has a scar on his left cheek -- he is tolerably stout and strong made; has a pleasant countenance when spoken to.  One Hundred Dollars will be given for the apprehension of said Negro, if taken in the State of Maryland, and the above reward will be given if taken out of the state, and secured so that I can get him again.  Nathaniel E. 13 ER 379 - 27 August 1833 - Nathaniel E. Green to Elijah Stephens for $260 - Whereas Henry Nicols, late of Dorchester County, deceased, being seized in fee simple and possessed of all and singular the tract or part of a tract of parcel of land with improvements and appurtenances hereinafter particularly described and conveyed did and by his last will and testament in due form of law made executed and attested, proved and recorded and bearing date 15 March 1832 directed among other things that all that tract or part of a tract or parcel of land lying and being in the county aforesaid called "New Market" containing 182 acres should be sold to the best advantage for the uses and purposes in the last will and testament mentions and did in and by the said last will and testament appoint the said Nathaniel E. Green the executor thereof and authorize and empower him to sell the said tract.  On 14 August 1832 at the Henry B. Lecompte tavern in New Market sold tract to Elijah Stevens. Same tract that on 26 December 1828 was conveyed by Andrew S. Gootee to the said Henry Nicols.

In 1841 Nathaniel E. Green was a delegate from Dorchester County to the Maryland State Colonization Society. The Society was the primary vehicle for proposals to return free African Americans to what was considered greater freedom in Africa.  Samuel Green may have been originally owned by or related to the family of Margaret Ann Green Nicols.

5 WJ 166 - 1 October 1849 - Septimus Thompson & Sarah L. Thompson, his wife, of Baltimore to Kendal M. Jacobs for $2000:  lot in and near the town of East New Market where a certain Thomas Willoughby now resides.  Being the same property which belonged to a certain Henry Nicols, whereon he resided at the time of his death and which he devised to his wife during her natural life and after her death to a certain Emily E. Green and the said Emily E. Green having departed this life intestate, the said property has descended to the said Sarah L Thompson, her only sister of whole blood.  Containing 50 acres
