Several farmers on the Eastern Shore have gone into the tomato growing business on a large scale.  One near East New Market the past season had fifty acres in tomatoes, and on a cash outlay of less than $1,000 for fertilizer, labor, etc., netted over $3,000 clear profit, a much larger profit, we venture to say, than any packer cleared.
