26 August 1916 - Extending the Electric Lines

The new electric line of the Eastern Shore Gas and Electric Company, running from Laurel, Del. to Cambridge, Md., has been finished and was put in operation some days ago.  this line passes through Sharptown, Federalsburg, East New Market, Hurlock, Preston, Williamsburg, Secretary, and Cambridge, all of which towns are lighted from current generated at the Laurel plant, which was recently enlarged.  The plant carries a voltage of 23,000.  The Denton electric system belongs to the same corporation, and will eventually be connected with the other town, so that it may be afforded the same protections as the others in case of an accident.
