Town Engineer's Office

The town engineers office is a small building that used to serve as town hall.  It did not exist in 1877 and is likely was built in the mid-1900s.  More information on this structure is needed.

From the Maryland Historical Trust - State Historic Sites Inventory Form - 1985

1 story, wooden frame structure covered with corrugated tin. Rectangular, hip roof covered with tin.  Exposed rafters.  1 by 2 bays.  On right side there is a shed addition.

8 W.L.R. 263 - 2 November 1914 - Jacob Millenson & Rebecca Millenson, his wife, and William Wright & Sarah Wright, his wife, and Henry Wright, widower, and George W. Wright & Annie M. Wright, his wife as heirs of Catherine E. Wright in 5 WLR 74:  All that lot or parcel or parcel of land situate, lying and being on the South side of Academy Street in said town of East New Market, beginning at the North corner of the barnyard formerly belonging unto the said Mrs Catherine E. Wright, and from thence running with the West line of said lot to a turn; thence near Northwest 16½ feet; thence near West to the William J. Payne lot; thence with the Payne lot near Northwest to the William J. Abdell lot and thence with same to Academy Street; and thence with the Southwest side of said street to the place of beginning, being all pf the Major S. Fletcher property lying between the property sold by Sarah C. Fletcher unto the said Mrs. Catherine E. Wright, and the property of William J. Abdell..”

Is a copy of her will showing how the estate was devised. Questions of legality were raised as to W.L.R. 5/071 and W.L.R. 6/175. This was resolved in the conveyance at W.L.R. 8/263
