William M. Fletcher

William M. Fletcher was born 9 March 1828 in East New Market, the son of John H. Fletcher and Sarah Andrews.  On 19 April 1858, he married Sarah C. Keene.  She was born 10 July 1837, the daughter of Robert and Juliet Keene.

In 1889, William M. Fletcher and his brother John W. Fletcher purchased property from their brother Major S. Fletcher to settle a mortgage debt.  Major Fletcher was ill at the time.  The property included a storehouse and shop, Fletcher's Folly, and the "Buckland" property.

In 1903 William and John Fletcher sold one acre of the "Buckland" property to Lida Smith.  Louis and Lida Smith built a house on this property in 1904.  The house is now known as the "Lida Smith House".

...to a certain gift, grant, deed and conveyance of certain lands lying in Dorchester county, near the town of East New Market, made by William M. Fletcher and Sarah C. Fletcher, his wife, unto Frederick Pegelow and others, trustees, in trust, for the use and benefit of the German Salem Church, of East New Market, in Dorchester county.

William M. Fletcher died on 30 May 1913 and is buried in Cambridge.
