Belle Kimmey House

From the Maryland Historical Trust State Historic Sites Inventory Form

An L-shaped 2 1/2 story weather board frame house which is three bays wide and four bays deep.  The building has as asphalt shingle gable roof with boxed cornice with returns.  An inside brick chimney is located on the left hand side of the building.  The entrance is located in the third bay.  The main entrance has a recessed paneled doorway with three light transom and three side lights.  A one bay wide pedimented entrance porch is located over the main entrance.  The rear two story ell of the building was constructed later than the main block.  2/2 windows are located in the front block of the building and 6/6 windows are located on the rear.  A plain frieze is located below the cornice and cornerboards are located in each corner of the building.

The beautiful old Belle Kimmey House should have been saved.  However, a recent owner tore down the grand old home and built a substandard vinyl house in its place.  This shouldn't be allowed to happen.
