3 Cambridge Avenue

Woodward-Nossick House (1949)

About 1949, Stuart "Babe" Woodward & Marie Woodward, his wife, contracted with L. Cadmus "Cad" Howard to build the house at 3 Mount Holly - East New Market Road.  This house was built on a lot that was formerly the south part of the Blake-Andrew House lot.

Note from Kirk Hurley

I believe you will note that the Katinskys sold off the lot where what is actually a cinderblock structure (actually constructed by L. Cadmus "Cad" Howard) was built for Stuart "Babe" and Marie Woodward.  The current siding is a relatively recent addition. I believe this was a second marriage for both "Babe" and Marie.  Marie operated a beauty salon of which my mother was a long time patron when I was a "preschooler".  I note tangentially that this is one of two nearly identical houses built at the same time by Mr. "Cad" Howard the second being the Wyatt and Ruth Watler House.  It too is of cinderblock construction and has also now been sheathed in siding.  It also dates from about 1949.
